WHY GO DEET FREE ?!?

Until Natural became available the only effective way of keeping biting bugs at bay was to use an insect repellent made partly or wholly from DEET.


What is DEET?

DEET, N, N diethyl-m-toluamide, is a broad spectrum insect repellent developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1946 for use mainly by American forces.

It is a very effective way of stopping insects biting you BUT: it can cause irritation to eyes, lips and other sensitive areas; skin reactions such as rashes it is DANGEROUS if used on children or applied too often, it damages (melts) plastics and man made fabrics: Glasses, binoculars, riding tack, neoprene wet suits, waders, toys you name it DEET stands a good chance ruining it.


URGENT ADVICE! If you are determined to use DEET DON'T USE IT ON CHILDREN.


Today, those manufacturers and retailers that are still clinging to the use of DEET in their insect repellent will tell you they use formulas that have such low amounts of DEET it can't be harmful - but still contains enough to be effective. RUBBISH!  Low concentrations = low effectiveness while still being potentially harmful to children, animals and YOU because you will have to apply it more often.  High concentrations = highly effective, strong chemical smell and very harmful DO NOT USE ON CHILDREN - PLEASE!!!

But we are here to tell you ...DON'T PANIC!!

There is an alternative, non - harmful to children and animals, won't melt your plastic equipment and clothes and is independently tested to be as effective as DEET based products for even longer - AND just in case YOU CAN APPLY IT AS OFTEN AS YOU WANT.
